Ask The Batemaster: Semen Retention & When To Ejaculate

It can take you to new levels of intense and profound pure penis pleasure…

QUESTION: Hey, Bruce! I’ve watched so many of your videos and I hardly ever see you cum! Yeah, I’ve seen your dry orgasms. And lately you talk more about not cumming, or semen retention, right? But how often do you cum? How do you decide then it’s time to do it?

RESPONSE: You’re right that though my masturbation videos online are legion (meaning numerous, in this case) there are not many that show me ejaculating. And this does in fact reflect the direction my own personal practice of what I call “Golden Phallus Yoga” has gone. For years I trained myself to practice Mindful Masturbation, which led me into what I call Male Erotic Alchemy and Male SoloSex Magick. These practices involve learning to cultivate erotic energy by masturbating as skillfully as possible without ejaculation, or at least not very often.

The primary reason to practice this is because it can take you to new levels of intense and profound pure penis pleasure you’ve never experienced before. It alters your consciousness, and begins to work on your personality, your body and mind begin to shift. It eventually helps you to become a healthier, happier person than you would be otherwise.

Also, to be clear, part of the Male SoloSex Magick practice does involve eventually ejaculating after prolonged cultivation (meaning quality masturbation) but you only ejaculate a special way. You maintain a very specific focus—a visual image, a word, a short phrase, or both—throughout the period of intense cultivation. Then, when you deliberately let go and ejaculate, you need to maintain the focus throughout the orgasm and aftermath. This is a form of manifesting something.

You can enjoy dry orgasm, even multiple dry orgasms, without ejaculation. That’s another specialty as part of all these practices. But my practice, which I call Golden Phallus Yoga now, began after I mastered those previously described. I no longer need to think about whether or not to breathe, slow down, switch hands, or whatever. Of course, I sometimes do use those various techniques, but after so many years, these options have become second nature.

I never count the days between my ejaculations. It’s usually a matter of weeks or months between ejaculations for me, by choice, because this way my erotic energy is almost always quite high. The intense pleasure spills over deliciously into my daily life. It’s easy to get an erection again and resume intense self-pleasure almost any time!

For me it’s become a matter of listening very deeply to what my body really wants. When I do surrender to ejaculation, these days the urge can still take me by surprise. But when it overcomes my urge not to ejaculate, I surrender fully, and let it utterly destroy me.

It’s a journey many other dedicated Phallic Brothers can understand—I’m far from alone in this! Indeed, I share the best of company with those men on similar paths!

A note from The Batemaster: I’m honored that the guys at Bateworld have asked me to respond to some questions from male masturbators around the world every week.

Always check with your doctor about any issues you might be experiencing with your sexual organs. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are important. This article’s purpose is to inform and entertain readers and is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.

The Batemaster (Bruce P. Grether)

How Bruce P. Grether became the Batemaster

Among his earliest memories, Bruce recalls seeing an adult man’s penis swing about anchored in a nest of curly brown hairs when the man was changing clothes. That penis fascinated him and he somehow knew it was of major importance. He also remembers how good it felt to slide down a stairway banister or to climb a tree with pressure between his legs sending delicious sensations all through his body.

At an early age, he played doctor with another boy his age, and the frottage he enjoyed as they rubbed their penises together made him feel One with All Things.

He was older, maybe 9 or 10 years when he figured out how to actually masturbate while taking a shower. Immediately Bruce became a fan of self-pleasure, though, with puberty, he became extremely shy about his body being seen. Still, when his pubic hair sprouted and his penis grew bigger, it astonished him how incredible the sensations could feel with adult genitalia.

All through his 20s and 30s Bruce loved masturbating and did it often. Something kept tell him though, that there could be more to it. None of the books he read about Tantra and Taoist erotic cultivation provided simple how-to instructions. Finally, in his early 40s, he came upon Joseph Kramer’s video about male genital massage: FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Having no playmates to try this with, he tried it on himself. In the process, he discovered what he soon named “Mindful Masturbation.” For 6 weeks he masturbated for hours every day, and did not ejaculate once! This was the Penis Paradise he had been looking for since his adventures playing doctor as a young boy. He was changed forever and lost most of his shyness and insecurities.

Bruce began to listen deeply to whatever his penis told him. This way he learned more and more about male masturbation, the penis, and he studied human sexuality. Soon he was hired to write professionally for the sex education site JackinWorld (dot) com, which he did for some years under the name “Bruce McFarland.”

Since then, his erotic activism is more radical and he uses his actual given name: Bruce P. Grether, AKA the Batemaster. He has hosted workshops and now does online masturbation coaching. In 2012 his best-selling book THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN PHALLUS was published and with his handsome young friend Blue Tyger he created the Erotic Engineering site to explore advanced male self-pleasure practices.

Bruce considers himself a Missionary of the Male Mysteries and his work continues.

  1. I began practicing semen retention in my 60’s as a response to my body’s increasing refractory period. Age made a big difference for me. Now I go about 3 weeks between ejaculations. Fortunately, I was able to learn new bate techniques – penis bless you Bruce!

  2. I too began practicing semen retention due to an increase in refractory time because I didn’t want the pleasure to end and now I almost always only ejaculate by accident when I go to far and pass the point of no return while masturbating.

  3. I’m sure that with diligent practice, the human body is capable of some interesting if not fascinating things. Alas for me, semen retention is not on my “to-do list.”
I’ve been joyously masturbating for over 50 years – solo and with my wife.
Ejaculation has always been my well-deserved reward for a satisfying masturbation session.
That said, I’ve also learned the pleasures the art of “edging.” Sometimes I ejaculate, sometimes I don’t.
It’s all good, but most of the time I truly enjoy blowing my load.

  4. Yes I agree with you all. It’s a matter of choice. I myself hold off for a week and then let it blow my pipe’s clean.
Do agree with you Bruce that the longer you sustain the higher the energy level become’s. It can also be done anyware, no mess cleaning up after. For me being in my 60,s it’s an ideal way of total bliss.
