Retrospective: The Bate in the 80’s

In the early part of the decade, I came to the realization that I was a masturbator, that masturbation was my preferred sexual act. I didn't seem to know any other masturbators, though; not in the sense that I was. Still, I thought there had to be others, so I put a few personal ads in some gay sex publications looking for other masturbators.

Have You CREAM OF CONNER?

As a sexual icon, Conner Habib is one of a contemporary wave of porn stars using social media to celebrate sexuality without shame. He left an academic career to be a sex performer, and his commitment to proudly exposing himself to the world is something I admire (he’s currently retired, but his hard cock will always live on online). I often wonder what his former students must think when they see explicit images of Conner

Camp Classics: Movin’ With Nancy

The camp value of Movin’ With Nancy is astronomical, but at heart is an impressive, Emmy-winning TV special produced and directed by Jack Haley, Jr. Nancy Sinatra is at her iconic peak. She's stylish, charming and beautiful, and the material suits her well, even when it's stretching her range. Featuring a Rat Pack triumvirate as guest stars, MWN showcases some great, occasionally trippy period songs from Lee Hazlewood and others in lush arrangements.

SOLIDARITY

Each of us at BateWorld and The BatorBlog are deeply saddened by the tragic and senseless violence at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida over the weekend. We recognize the unique, irreplaceable lives and voices who have been lost or injured, the impact on their families, friends, and loved ones, and the damage it’s inflicted on an entire community both local and international.

Contributors Wanted

We're looking for writers who can contribute articles about masturbation, the arts, activism, grooming, fashion, poetry or any other damn thing you can think of that might be of interest to our readers.

Hugh Hefner And The Playboy Legacy

Hugh Hefner deserves a huge amount of credit for mainstreaming sex in the modern age. He brought a dynamic and cross-platform lifestyle dimension into the lives of men, refining from the start his own vision of contemporary manhood that included personal style, living quarters, hot rides, literature and the arts (and of course, sexy ladies) as integral elements of the well-rounded man.

DAVID PEVSNER: A Conversation

I've said so often that one man's art is another man's porn, and everyone's line is different. Just showing your dick is porn to some. I don't know... I've been really enjoying expressing my sexual and artistic freedom in these photos, and the fact that some guys (and women!) seem to be inspired by a man of my age putting it all out there in a thoughtful way

The Most Self-Important List of The 21 Most Self-Important Movies of All Time

Over the years there've been a number of films that take themselves a little too seriously. The overall success of these films can be the difference between self-awareness and self-indulgence, and often it's hard to tell the difference. A Message Film can unintentionally become a Camp Masterpiece or, worse, Great Big Bomb, by default of its own over-baked seriousness. Sometimes, a movie just can't get out of its own way, and that's why we love them so.

RISE: the album

I wanted to create songs that weren't so much FOR masturbation as ABOUT masturbation and sexual revolution, trying to interpret sex energies into thumping, whooshing, pulsing waves of expressive sonic surprise. Call it music if you will. Dance naked if you must. Just get up and take this moment in your hands.

BATEWORLD 2016 IS COMING

Since we started BateWorld six years ago, we've been slowly evolving and improving our user experience. The current version, BateWorld2.0, was launched in 2010 after our first year of operation. We've continually improved on that foundation for five years and now we're ready to take it to the next stage. In 2016, BateWorld will begin its third phase of transformation. Our members will soon begin to see changes to the site, which may continue gradually through several more years as we upgrade every element of BateWorld.
